Since its formation in 2017, the Piccadilly Sinfonietta has become a regular feature on the UK concert scene, giving up to 100 performances a year in some of the country’s most beautiful and prestigious venues. The ensemble comprises some of the most prodigious musical talent and performs exclusively with leading virtuoso soloists. The group performs under the artistic direction of its founder, concert pianist Warren Mailley-Smith and focusses on the virtuoso concerto repertoire of the baroque, classical and early romantic periods.
The Piccadilly Sinfonietta also performs with larger forces under the name Piccadilly Sinfonia. Previous concert series have included the complete Beethoven piano concerto cycle at St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Despite the many existing recordings of these three Bach piano concertos, The Piccadilly Sinfonietta has featured them on its debut recording due to popular demand for their compelling interpretations, following their many live performances of these stunning works.
The goal of the Piccadilly Sinfonietta is to bring the world’s greatest classical music to the widest possible audience and to nurture future generations of classical music lovers. Piccadilly Sinfonietta concerts are characterised by the passion of their performances and their engaging presentation.
