The Athens Trio was founded in 1982.

The three musicians decided to join forces to contribute to spreading and promotion of Chamber Music in Greece. The Trio has given numerous concerts in Athens, other Greek regions and abroad, receiving the most favorable reviews. It has collaborated with the Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras, the Athens Concert Hall, the broadcaster ERT, the Ionian University, the University of Crete, the Educational Service of Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture, etc. It has also collaborated with cultural institutions of many Greek cities and has participated in Greek and international festivals.

It participated in a series of concerts organized by the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation in schools, where, with specifically selected programs and discussion with the students, a great effort began for the young people to get to know and love tasteful music.

The Trio made many recordings for Radio and Television. The repertoire of the Athens Trio includes almost all the works that have been written for a Trio with piano. Among them is Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, which it has performed it repeatedly with an orchestra. Also, in an effort to promote Greek Chamber Music, it recorded records with works by Greek composers and often presents Greek works in first performance.

The trio is today one of the few such long-lived permanent ensembles in Greece.
