Poppy Walshaw (Baroque cello)Poppy Walshaw enjoys a varied career throughout Europe with many leading early music ensembles. Her continuo playing has been praised as “lithe and characterful” (Opera Today) and she is currently the continuo cellist for the Hanover Band and Fiori Musicali. Poppy was a concerto soloist and continuo cellist for many years with leading Polish ensemble Arte dei Suonatori, including solos live on Danish and Polish radio. She has performed as continuo cellist for Sir John Eliot Gardiner on many occasions and has been a member of his ensembles since 2012.

Poppy read Natural Sciences and Music at Cambridge, studied with Alexander Baillie in Germany, and was a Continuo Scholar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Alison McGillivray and Louise Hopkins. She is also an Alexander Technique teacher and a Feldenkrais Practitioner.
